The hilly terrain of upper Međimurje favors viticulture, which is why all the significant areas planted with vines are located in that part. The vines are grown at an altitude of 240 to 330 m above sea level. Due to the great diversity of this area, the vineyards are exposed to all sides of the world.

This area is located between the cold alpine air and the warmer south breeze.

The climate of this area is classified as humid, moderately continental with warm summers and quite rainy winters.
